The power of poetry

Wonderful and life-giving words reach us through a multitude of forms. Be it the crafted descriptions filling the page of a novel, or lyrical lines of poems and songs; all colour the mind with thoughts and ideas that speak of people, places, and experiences. But of these many forms of literature, it seems true that poetry is indeed something special. The careful combination of selected words has power enough to move hearts, evoke deep emotion, and transfer ideas like no other form of literature. Its highly concentrated lyrical motion draws the reader into its dance, swaying back and forth from word to word, and creating a timeless window into the genius mind of the author.

Stories from the week

When children acknowledge their ability to rise above a challenge, their eyes open to a world of opportunity. Before them lie both the mountains and valleys of life's journey, but an air of possibility hovers in the atmosphere. From as early as Gardens Nook, we strive to feed our young children with ideas from great minds and thinkers, of creation and the Creator. Our hope is to stimulate interest and passion in the hearts of our children towards becoming people that have influence and have truly grasped the idea of selfless love and servanthood.

When children come together in community, crossing over cultural and economic differences that divide, we catch a glimpse of what was originally intended for God's people. In His sovereign goodness, He brings people together and binds them through unconditional love and care. Our children teach us as parents how to see others through a lens that is unguarded by pretense and judgement. We see true community, governed by friendship and acceptance. May we continue to grow as we learn from the innocence and raw beauty evident in our children.

Something to ponder...

" Poetry is, perhaps, the most searching and intimate of our teachers."
